Statement by Ambassador David C. Mulford on the Death of Former President of India K. R. Narayanan

New Delhi -- On behalf of the United States Government and the American people, I would like to pay tribute to former President K. R. Narayanan.  President Narayanan had a distinguished, rich and varied career in service of India and the international community, including serving as Ambassador to the United States and friend to the American people.  His wisdom and leadership ensured his great success in academia, journalism, and diplomacy, resulting in his distinguished service as President of this great country.  I offer my condolences and those of the American people and government to his family and the people of India for the loss of this great leader.
