Indian & Bhutanese Citizens Resident in the U.S.

If you are an Indian or Bhutanese citizen resident in the U.S., you can apply for a new nonimmigrant visa in India using a slightly different method. Please take note of the differences in the steps of the application process outlined below and then read the general information about how to apply for a visa. 

Step 1: Payment of Fee & Service Charge

If you are an Indian or Bhutanese citizen resident in the U.S., to pay the Visa Application Fee and VFS Service Charge at the HDFC Bank and obtain a Visa Fee Receipt, please fax a copy of your passport's bio-data page to the person assisting you in India or Bhutan. That person will have to submit the fax to a designated branch of the HDFC Bank, pay the Visa Application Fee and VFS Service Charge and obtain the Visa Fee Receipt.

Step 2: Book an Appointment & Complete the Application Forms

As an Indian citizen resident in the U.S. you may attend a nonimmigrant visa interview in India at one of four locations: the U.S. Embassy, New Delhi; U.S. Consulate General, Chennai; U.S. Consulate General, Kolkata; and U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai. Bhutanese citizens resident in the U.S. can only attend a visa interview at the U.S. Embassy, New Delhi. To learn how to book a visa interview appointment, click here.
 
Step 3: Attend your Visa Interview

Note: Indian and Bhutanese citizens are not required to pay a Visa Issuance Fee.
