U. S. Customs & Border Protection

The United States Customs & Border Protection (USCBP) was formed largely out of the former U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Service (USINS) and the U.S. Customs Service (USCS).  When the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) came into being in March 2003, the former immigration and customs services were divided into three separate agencies.  The first is an inspections component, USCBP, which is primarily responsible for people and cargo admissibility issues into the United States.  The second is a service component, U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service (USCIS), which primarily provides immigration benefits.  The third is an investigative component, U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (USICE), responsible for conducting immigration and customs related criminal investigations.

USCBP is one of the Department of Homeland Security’s largest and most complex components, with a priority mission of keeping terrorists and their weapons of terror out of the United States.  USCBP is responsible for facilitating secure trade and travel while enforcing hundreds of U.S. regulations, including copyright and immigration laws.  The USCBP New Delhi office endeavors to provide effective and efficient service to many constituents:  from the general public and air carriers flying to the U.S., to the offices/sections in the U.S. Mission and the Government of India, New Delhi.

The USCBP India Attaché Office is located at the American Embassy in New Delhi and can be accessed through the visa gate.

This USCBP India Attaché Office operates Monday through Wednesday, and, Friday between 09:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - without appointments.  We are closed on Thursdays in order to be able to provide outreach and training, and, to complete office administrative duties.  However, in case of an emergency, you can make an appointment for Thursday by calling the telephone numbers listed below or sending an email to the email address listed below.
