Top U.S. official in India for education dialogue

Giving fresh impetus to the already strong U.S.-India ties in the field of education and academic exchange, the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Judith McHale visited India on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF).  U.S. Ambassador to India, Timothy J. Roemer, and chief guest and Fulbright alumnus Minister for External Affairs S.M. Krishna joined the celebration on February 2nd at Fulbright House in New Delhi.

During her visit to India, Under Secretary McHale met Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal. She also met many other India Government officials and others from various sectors, including the media, NGO's and business and discussed about enhancing U.S.-India education ties and academic exchanges.

On the second leg of her visit, Under Secretary McHale met with educational, cultural and business leaders including Bollywood personalities in Mumbai. McHale toured various educational institutes, including IIT Bombay and Whistling Woods Institute.
