Medical Examination & Report

All immigrant visa applicants are required to visit one of our approved panel physicians and have a medical examination, receive vaccinations if required, and obtain a medical report.

The applicant is responsible for arranging and attending the medical examination, paying all costs, and obtaining the medical report.

Before contacting a panel physician

Please read and consider the following guidance and information:

• An applicant is advised to have the medical examination and vaccinations at least seven days before their immigrant visa interview
• Each applicant must bring to the medical examination the following: a valid passport; three recent photographs; all medical records of vaccinations, prior illnesses, and treatments
• The applicant will have to discuss their medical history and current medical conditions, treatments, and medications with the panel physician
• Applicants over 15 years of age are required to have a serologic test for the HIV infection
• Applicants under 15 years of age are not required to have the chest x-rays, blood tests, or the serologic test for the HIV infection. Those under 15 only require a general physical examination and the vaccinations
• The cost of the medical examination and vaccinations for each applicant may vary due to the applicant's age, medical history, and current medical conditions
• The applicant is responsible for collection of the medical report from the panel physician
• The applicant must bring the medical report to the Embassy or relevant consulate on the day of their visa interview
• Medical reports are valid for one year from the date of the medical examination. The medical examination must be repeated if the medical report has expired or will expire before the applicant enters the U.S.
• Any attempt by the applicant to influence the physician's medical judgment will adversely affect the applicant's visa application
• Please contact the Embassy or relevant consulate if you are asked to pay fees higher than those shown in Embassy or consulate immigrant visa instruction documents
