Ambassador Roemer Congratulates India, Pakistan on "Cricket Diplomacy"

Ambassador Timothy J. Roemer today congratulated the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan for initiating the "cricket diplomacy" between the two countries and wished the two leaders and the people of both nations success in their endeavors.  He also commended the just concluded talks between the home secretaries of India and Pakistan.

Ambassador Roemer said:  "We commend the leaders of both countries for carrying forward with what the media is calling cricket diplomacy.  We applaud the just-concluded talks between the Home Secretaries and the progress made on a wide range of issues.  India and Pakistan will take the talks forward at their own pace, ability and character.  Continued dialogue, combined with cricket diplomacy, expanding people-to-people ties and enthusiasm and optimism on both sides, offers promise of a more prosperous and peaceful region."
