U.S. Embassy Adoption Processing Centralized in New Delhi from April 1, 2009
March 23, 2009
New Delhi -- The United States Embassy announces that effective April 1, 2009 all U.S. adoption case processing for India will take place at Embassy New Delhi. This decision was undertaken to streamline processing for adoptive families and their children and to facilitate cooperation between India's Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) and the U.S. government.
In the absence of a unique issue requiring Embassy-CARA coordination, cases already in process at a U.S. Consulate in India prior to April 1, 2009 will be processed to completion at the Consulate.
