"Let me start by conveying best wishes for a happy Diwali as President Obama did last night in Washington at a special event at the White House.
I am delighted to be back in India. The main purpose of my visit is to help prepare for Prime Minter Singh's state visit to the White House next month. It is no accident that the Prime Minister's visit will be the first state visit to Washington during the Obama administration. That reflects the very high priority that President Obama and Secretary Clinton and the entire administration attach to our relationship with India.
I just finished an excellent meeting with Minister Krishna and I have a very full schedule over today and tomorrow of meetings with senior Indian government officials. We have a very rich agenda for cooperation and partnership between the United States and India on a wide range of regional and global issues before us, ranging from health to education, to civilian nuclear cooperation, to defense, to clean energy and climate change.
I remain very optimistic about the prospects for further progress in relations between our two countries in the months and years ahead, and I remain convinced that the U.S.-Indian partnership is one of the real keys to global order and global prosperity in the 21st century."
