Oscar Fever 2012 @ The American Center, New Delhi

The American Center, New Delhi in association with The Motion Picture Distribution Association (India) Pvt., Ltd and Taj Enlighten Film Society will host Oscar Fever 2012 on Saturday, February 25, a day before the Oscars will be held in Hollywood.

As part of the celebratory event, two films nominated in the Best Picture category for the year 2011 will be screened at the American Center New Delhi auditorium:  Oscar front runner The Descendants by Alexander Payne and the Academy race dark horse The Help by Tate Taylor.  The festival will also feature a video montage of a number of memorable Oscar moments, excerpts from the Best Picture nominees for the year 2012, and special commentary from local film critics presented by Taj Enlighten Film Society.  Film lovers will also have the chance to compete for prizes by filling out an Oscars quiz. The highlight of the evening will be when the audience chooses their selection for Best Picture by voting on a special ballot.

“We at the American Center are excited about bringing the best of American cinema to New Delhi on Oscars’ Eve.  We are proud of American creativity and the world of film is one of the main ways audiences in India and throughout the world connect with American culture,” said David Mees, Cultural Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy, New Delhi.
