September 2009 The traveling Americans interacted with students and other groups. An enthusiastic audience demonstrated commitment to volunteerism at the Ahmedabad Management Association. While in Erode, American diplomats presented awards to top ranking students at a government school.

September 2009 Over 30 diplomats from the U.S. Embassy are traveling to 20 cities throughout India September 8 to 18 for the annual America Days event. The Americans interact with universities, Rotary Clubs, and other groups on U.S.-India relations, the environment, education and other topics of mutual interest.

July 19-21, 2009 Secretary Clinton met with entrepreneurs, scientists, and youth in New Delhi. She and U.S. Ambassador-Designate Timothy J. Roemer visited the ITC Green Centre in Gurgaon and ICAR's Indian Agricultural Research Institute in Pusa. At the University of Delhi she had an interactive session with 700 students, faculty and guests

July 17-19, 2009 In Mumbai she met with a broad cross section of Indian society and remembered the victims of the November 26, 2008 Mumbai attacks. She was at Hansiba, SEWA’s retail store where she talked and heard stories of economic self-sufficiency from women artisans. She discussed community service with Aamir Khan while at St. Xavier’s College
American Independence Celebrated at the American Center
July 4, 2009 Hundreds of Indians celebrated America’s 233rd Independence Day at the American Center with a live concert of rock & roll music; pizza and birthday cake. The American Center building was not illuminated for this year’s July 4 celebrations, as part of the commitment to energy conservation

Commemoration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1959 India Journey
February 2009 American civil rights leader Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. and his wife Coretta Scott King came to India in 1959. He called the visit "a pilgrimage," to study the life and work of Mohandas K. Gandhi in India's freedom struggle.
