About the Doctors and Hospitals List

The Embassy neither endorses these providers nor guarantees their professional competence. However, Americans have used these offices in the past and generally have been satisfied with the care they received. Please be advised that it is best to have a friend or colleague with you in the hospital if you are unable to monitor your own care. The hospitals listed below often provide a couch or bed in the room for the convenience of a companion.

We invite your comments about the providers listed.  Email acsnd@state.gov

Frequently Asked Questions

I need to consult a doctor but I don’t know where to go.  American Citizen Services has compiled a list of medical facilities, most with English-speaking staff who may be able to help you. This list and other general medical information are available on our website at http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/service/other-citizen-services/medical-information.html.

*Please note that neither the U.S. Embassy nor the State Department endorses or promotes specific providers. The information above is submitted as an information resource only and is not meant to be comprehensive or to imply endorsement.

I am a doctor and want to practice medicine in India?  What do I have to do to get a license?  Medical licensing in India is handled by the MCI (Medical Council of India).  Their web site is www.mciindia.org.  Normally the doctor needs a letter from the organization/hospital that is sponsoring the person, either for training, work, or charitable duties.
