Visa Processing:
The average amount of time it takes to process a visa and return it to the applicant following an interview, after a determination by the consular officer that the visa will be issued, is one week. However, some visa applications may require additional administrative processing that could delay visa issuance for an extended period of time. The applicant will be notified if this is the case.
All U.S. consular sections in India are working to ensure that appointment wait times are kept to a minimum. Persons anticipating traveling to the United States are encouraged to apply early.
